Life Story

Life Story: I grew up in a suburb of St. Paul, MN, and attended the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers!) for my undergraduate education. After many semesters of exploring majors, I found my home in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Interpersonal Communication. I wrote my thesis on the evolutionary basis of nonverbal communication in romantic relationships- super fascinating and semi-obscure topic that I became very passionate about. I also studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland…one of my favorite experiences as an undergrad.

After graduating, I worked at the Minnesota Attorney General's Office in St. Paul, MN, for two years before returning to the U of M for my graduate degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology. I worked with CFANS, CCE, CDES, and CSE students as a graduate student, and have also worked as an academic advisor at the U of M. I love working with students to develop a positive strategy to address their major and career goals.

Out Of Work Obsessions

Baking and cooking; running- I especially love running around Lake Harriet in Minneapolis; and most importantly- spending time with my family, friends, and dogs (Rosy and Bailey).

Favorite Place In The Whole World

Sitting on the dock at our family's cabin in northern Minnesota.

Something You Wish You Had More Time For

I wish that I had more time to travel, improve my piano-playing skills, and sew. My grandma is an expert quilter and I would love to be able to make some of the beautiful pieces that she does.

Best Way To Spend A Saturday

My ideal Saturday includes a morning run, a chocolate croissant, a trip to the dog park, and many lazy hours spent watching college football in the presence of nachos.
